Since 1982, over 400,000 people across 98 countries have earned it. The program was developed by the National Swimming Pool Foundation (now PHTA) and is updated annually as technology and regulations evolve.
Many state and local health departments require CPO certification for anyone responsible for operating a public pool or spa — and it's strongly recommended even where it isn't required.
